A slightly shorter album, The Album is nonetheless yet another ace offering from ABBA. From perennial favorite Take a Chance on Me to the sweet Thank You for the Music, The Album finds time to pose an interesting question about love: should I stay or should I go? Literally, given that several songs deal with travel: Eagle, I Wonder (Departure), and Move On. The urge to walk on finds its anchor point in songs like One Man, One Woman, where a relationship is put to the test, but eventually holds strong. It’s a nice tennis match between the two options, leaving or staying, and the group’s best answer is found in the rock-tinged song I’m a Marionette, where the unnamed “marionette” laments their lack of freedom. A lot of this album is about moving on, and could come close to being considered a break-up album, if you want to put labels on it like that.
